Dale Cullen – Loads of potential and a lovely sentiment to the song and a song we can all relate to it but after around a run through of the chorus and verse a couple of times it needs a new hook.
Bethany Bradson – Intense song which you convey well but needs a hook earlier in proceedings one that will stick in our heads when the song has finished. Performance wise look to work that stage. Not sure what the meaning behind the song is?
Alex James Ellison – Like the sentiment but try and structure the lyrics around the theme more seems to meander away from the message. You are talented songwriter so keep writing as you have a hit in you, look to write about subjects that are a bit more unusual which we can all relate too. Could hear a band performing this.
Camden Songwriting Contest – Songwriter’s Feedback
Adam Duffill – As always solid just need that killer chorus for that flagship song to get to the next level, click here for songwriting tips - how to write a chorus. Great meaning behind the song.
CeeCee – Quite a long intro so remember perform from the word dot. Wasn’t so clear on the diction or lyrics which meant couldn’t really get the message. Commit more to the performance.
Nicole McNally – Melody was good and it had a natural lift to the chorus. You need to perform more to really convey the message in the song to its best potential. Summer feel good tune! Catchy little chorus!
The Histerics – You guys looked fab and loved the sentiment of the song. The lyrics were all we could relate too, it perhaps needed that bit more punch to realise its full potential as a song. Great chorus! Great effort from such young girls, keep writing please!
Agata – There is something in this song but the line that everything looks nicer when your drunk should be made of repeated in a different deliver and/or tone click here for some songwriting tips - how to write a chorus. I think a lot of girls will relate to this. Liked that the lyrics were honest.
Steve Young & Gemma Mewse – Needs a hook at the start as a rather drab start. Start with where you both sing and leave the drab intro. A good edit could really improve this song. Work the harmonies even more; perhaps sing different lyrics rather than the same lines. Really enjoyed the female and male narrative work. Want this on my mp3 player!
Hamza Aleem – Never stop just keep going will always just highlight the error. Maybe too much going on with playing the electric guitar having the support, amps and pedals was just too much and it would have benefitted from being kept simple and easier for you to focus. Having said that you got the biggest cheer of the day!! Great meaning behind the song. Loved the chorus. Keep working on the structure of the song, click here for more on song structure.
Camden Songwriting Contest – Feedback from Music Industry Judges
Ebonie G – You have a lovely variation of tone and character to your vocals. Loved the scats but would have liked you to climb into that chorus a little more. This Is my kind of music. The song felt a little dated.
Mairead Furlong – Melody is very catchy. I think you could have used dynamics to structure the delivery of the song to be presented better, click here for musical dynamics. Let it breathe before the chorus to give it more for the chorus sometimes less is more. Very current! I could hear it in the 2015 charts!
Gozi – Good delivery and presentation. Sounds like something Ed Sheeran would do. Very memorable performance. Full of energy.
Sites – Great you can convey the story in the song so clearly and concisely, you are a good story teller. Well produced instrumental that showed the song off to its best potential. Good lyrics and good flow. Like the honest content.
Corina Platt – Liked the delivery of the chorus and its rephrasing. Take care with the finger plucking. That’s a song from the heart.
James Rowland – Your delivery was still as a band rather than an acoustic duo. Quite instrumental heavy rather than lyrics. It did feel like a band stripped down but the song is catchy. Very cool tune, instantly singing the chorus! The bridge at the end was slightly weak, but a good song still!
Tai Isabella – Cracking start but don’t force the vocal and lose control. Loved the start and lyrics in the hook; this song has real potential. Perform more and really perfect your stage craft to convey your songs to their best potential. Like the verses and bridges.
Camden Songwriting Contest – Future Music’s Songwriting Competition
Eva-Joanna – You have bags of ability. Certainly look to click on this article about performing on keyboards. More performance and analysing the performance after will really bring you on. Your sound is very similar to Birdy.
Kirsty Spence – Would have brought the vocals on the backing track down a bit and the felt like at times too much going on instrumentally. Let the song breathe. Soulful lyrics. Lyrics melody and artist all clicked well. The song has a nice sentiment.
Drew Levi – Polished delivery. Song wise stick to the main hook it felt it went off in the middle. The content is a bit self-indulgent and message a little unclear even though it sounded good. It was catchy! A likeable song.
Gremlin – Should have killed the vocals in the backing track more. It is catchy and contemporary. The backing track was far too loud.
Mark Cousins – You have a real silky vocal as performers try and engage on stage just a glance and the odd smile felt a little detached from each other. I got a bit lost at times as there was a lot happening structurally.
Rupert Embleton-Smith – Go live with the guitar on its own or go backing track without the guitar. Performer needs to learn the words otherwise he’s just looking down and not engaging with us when performing. With these improvements this song has real potential. The presentation with the guitar doesn’t match the big production of sound. Can imagine this on a Disney film or a commercial.
Georgia Scott – Good commitment and passion in the performance but make sure you don’t push it and lose control. Watch your facial expression they are at times coming across a little harsh. This song needs work but it’s got the basics of a good song, try exploring a better melody.
