Simon Lyon - Hide; This was a catchy track with a good change of pace for the chorus. Performance wise more eye contact would be beneficial and less looking at your guitar. Click here for tips on playing guitar which may be beneficial. Good overall audition!
Tendayi Sutherland – Daily Daisies; Musically a little disjointed. The chorus was very catchy but seemed a detached from the rest of the song. Soul Music; Nice piano riffs and musical changes. Military Mother; Refreshingly written (would have been nicer without the words in front of you) however again a catchy chorus – Lily Allen-esque. Click here for some tips on how to write songs.
Pia Harmony -Come back to me; Nice light and shade. Your storytelling lyrics tell a tale you want to hear to the end but the song could do with a little more substance. Click here for tips and ideas on writing a song.
Maureen Molokwu – Nice light and shade to your song – good overall audition! Click here for some more tips on writing a song.
Lily Giles- Donovan - Boyfriend; Song subject may limit your audience. Click here for some ideas on writing a song and broadening your audience.
Wanted Essex Songwriters
Megan Buxton – Single soul/Missing Port; Both sang beautifully and had a mesmerizing quality lulling us into a trance like state which was nice. Missing Port beginning was far too long. Click here for some tips on how to write a songs which may beneficial.
Drew Levi-Huntsman – Don’t cry; A sit up and listen song which has both satisfactory familiar and recognisable in parts, yet stood on its own feet as a likeable new track. It had a real 60’s theme to the chorus. The chorus was a little repetitive. Click here for songwriting tips – how to write a chorus for some ideas.
Barry Miles – Throwing Dices; A song for a band ‘Strokes’ type performance and with that energy and drive behind it I can hear an album track but not a single. Good effort! The song was a little simple and quite repetitive at times though. Click here for songwriting tips – how to write a chorus for some pointers.
Wayne Jacobs – You’ll always be my girl; A great bouncy little number but it didn’t really showcase your vocals to us. Click here for musical dynamics for some tips!
Thomas Pescott-Frost – Somewhere else; Musically a great chorus, maybe work on the lyrics to match up to the same level. You also had good changes and shift of gear in this. Your story lyrics were engaging, they just a little tweaking. Click here to see tips for songwriters- working with other songwriters.
Leigh Luscious- The Look; The song was a really catchy track but be careful not to sound too dated. Good overall audition – click here for songwriting tips – how to write a chorus which may be of benefit.
Katerina Sharkova – Lovely Hispanic rift in verses, changing in style in the chorus with great dynamics and pauses – well done! Click here for even more tips on musical dynamics!
Reece Emery – You be mine; Olly Mur/Reggae influences on this summer catchy tune.Heartbreak; Be careful not to adopt a US accent for rap but overall good light and shade to showcase different styles! Click here for ideas when writing a song.
Helen Connelly – Brushing off the dust; This song was lyrically poetic with clean rhyming in parts and an edgy jazz/blues vibe with a modern spin. Easy to love; Seemed to continuously travel through song without any light or shade, click her for tips on writing a song. Live a lie; A mature vibe matched with heartfelt lyrics telling the tale of the title.
Melissa – Somewhere; You have a great voice but the song had no beginning, middle or end. Click here to for songwriting tips – how to write a chorus which may be beneficial. Good overall audition!
AD Project – One way traffic; A little dated in style but well written and catchy. Performance wise be careful with facial expressions (try recording yourself and watching it back). Guardian Angel; Nice number, great musically but you struggled a little vocally. Click here for tips on musical dynamics.
Essex Songwriters Wanted - Feedback
Graham Marriott – Bands of gold; The song had a nice melody and you are a good storyteller. However, everything was tad ‘safe’ overall. Click here for tips on writing a song for some ideas.
Dale Bennett – Stay away; Great Pace to the song which was refreshing (even on a borrowed keyboard!) The song progressed nicely, picking up later on to build on emotion. There were some slight vocal pitching issues. Click here for some tips musical dynamics you may find useful.
Neil Barke – The weatherman lied;Great song. Instantly appealing too! Also had a great instrumental start but watch tuning (vocals) and the chorus was a little samey. Otherwise good audition! Click here to songwriting tips – how to write a chorus.
Emily Teague – The quieter you are; Good audition however it felt like it needed an injection of passion. Backstage; Slightly dated feel to the song but good effort! Click here for some tips writing a song which may benefit you.
Barry Galvin – Another leaf will fall; Try not to be too repetitive with it but good effort overall. It needed a little more passion in the performance. Click here for tips on musical dynamics for some tips!
