Johnny Brown – Started passionately but the middle section seemed to lose momentum. Big finish was good though. Good lyrics and a nice arrangement. Just feel like there’s something missing in the chorus, click here for songwriting tips – how to write a chorus.
NoahMean – Great lyrics. Love the chorus! I was expecting the melody to change in the song. Your timing was excellent. Your lyrics were well structured.
Glasgow Songwriting Contest – Feedback for Songwriters
Dylan Bonnar – Used the change of pace well. Lyrics worked well and had a clear theme. Cool rap in the verses. Some of the notes didn’t seem to suit the song.
Elia Davidson – Nice choice of chords. Slow start and then the song came alive! Strong lyrics and a nice melody. Needs to work on a chorus, songwriting tips – how to write a chorus.
Aino Elina – Lyrically, it’s mesmerizing. I could see it upbeat and it sounding really good! Because your melody is quite high you need something that has more bass. The harmonies were spot on.
Chloe Robertson – Pace perhaps slightly too fast. Lyrics sounded good but there wasn’t enough time to take them in. Melody was good. Not sure it flowed into the chorus well, that structure might need some attention, click here for tips on song structure.
John O’Toole – I love the build up to the chorus. It’s a very catchy song. Nice structured song, it was clear when we went from verses to the chorus. The way the lyrics flowed was lovely.
Judge’s Feedback from the Glasgow Songwriting Contest
John Morgan – Nice love song, well put together. Chorus works well and adds optimism to the song. It’s cool that the melody follows the bass lines you’re playing. Fast chord changes which was cool. Very catchy lyrics!
Martin Vass – I can’t get this out of my head! That’s what makes it a good song. I love the arrangement and you’ve got a catchy chorus. Started off really well but then seemed to fall flat. Like the piano melody.
Siobhan Anderson – A bright love song with high emotion. The faster section worked very well. I would listen to this. Catchy, good arrangement. It’s difficult to tell the structure of the song, just keeps going, click here for more on song structure.
Jack Mackenzie – Good voice! I can hear each word clearly. Love your lyrics. The chorus was really good. Poetic lyrics over a good melody to give a tender love song. Good instrumental section! The song needs a developing but there’s a lot of potential here.
Rachelle – With a full production this will have a really good feel to it. Variations in pace worked well. A very nice love song. Nice structured song. The song built to something colourful, I could listen to this all day.
